For the expanding families

DREAM..From the time we are very young we realize how important life can be. We see how life changes as we grow older. Although while we are very young we can not wait until we get older so we can do all of the things that the older kids get to do. Once we realize how fast time passes we no longer wish away our years. We get excited about the milestones and we treasure each memory. That promise of the future and the appreciation of each day is what makes getting birth announcements so exciting. There is something so new about expanding our families. It is fun to wait with anticipation on a little one that we want to meet. We do not know what they will look like but we speculate. We do not know what they will act like but we speculate on that as well. What we do know is they will be loved and on that there is no speculation. We have a scrapbook we keep of the many announcements and invitations we receive. To us they represent events that have brought our family and friends together. Each time we add a new one we find ourselves flipping through the pages laughing about the events that we have shared in the past. We are reminded of the good times from a single invitation which is why they are so special to us. Many times we get so busy we do not think about the fun times in the past but when we see the invitations we manage to stop if only for a moment and talk about it remembering things we had not thought about in a long time. We always close our scrapbook while smiling.

Gosh, can you believe the economy is finally picking back up? I’m in real estate and it’s been a rough couple of years for me but thankfully I’ve gotten into the rental market and things are starting to turn around for me. I spent a lot of time restructuring the business – I had to let go my assistant and I even gave up my office space so I could start working from home and save some money there. I just don’t know how some people do it! I looked into t1internet.com for the house and I talked to tons of people about the ways they were staying afloat – I finally feel like I have a handle on things and like the whole world isn’t going to collapse tomorrow which is usually what I feel like. Who would have guessed the bubble would burst like it did, and in such an aggressive way? I wasn’t prepared for it and I don’t know many people who were, so at least I’m not alone in it.

When you have decided to start your own business that is just step number one. Our friends had wanted to start a business for many years. They had an online business that was successful but they really wanted a brick and mortar style of business. Having found the perfect location we all pitched in to make the building have the look they were wanting. We began with a good cleaning and then moved onto the painting and styling of the showroom floor. It is a huge undertaking to get it all set up but we were excited to do it. We would have an idea and then get it all set up only to change it. There were clothing racks and a glass display case that had to be in just the right place so it would be space effective and make the customers want to look at it. Placement of the clothing racks was important as well because they had to show off the garments in a way that made people want to go to them and look at each garment. Fortunately they were able to get all of the racks and glass display case they needed to organize the shop in a way that we all knew right away to be a success. We could feel it. You can get anything online and the racks and cases were also found online. There is a lot involved in setting up your own business but it is truly something to be proud of when it is open and functioning just as you wanted it to. Every time I pass the store and see all of the cars in the parking lot I am very excited for them and proud that I had a small part in making it happen.

There are so many occasions to wear boots. Boots are actually a staple in some areas of life. We found that out when we bought our new home. We bought a small farm just to enjoy as a hobby. We had always wanted to have a small farm but we decided that sooner was better then later. As we prepared for the work that was involved in getting our farm underway we knew right away that we had to have boots and good ones. At the first town meeting that we have occasionally we went just to meet everyone. Although we had met many of them previously. As we sat in our fold up chair we noticed everyone was wearing boots. Some were in nice jeans that has little wear and some in slacks but they were all in boots of some kind. When we returned home we looked online to find there were danner boots that would do the job as well as the familiar brand of timberland boots. We had also heard of the Dickies brand as well. This brand we have been using since we began our adventure in clothing. With the right tools and that includes clothing you can do any job and do it well. There had been nothing more rewarding as our small farm. There is something about knowing we did it ourselves. We have our chickens laying the eggs and veggies all tidy in a row enjoying the weather and producing like crazy. Our animals are happy and healthy and enjoying the outside life as much as we are. When the day is done we have far put in a hard days work and we love it. I work in the city throughout the week but my heart is back home and stays there until I pull back in my drive.
